RCMP Conducting Check Stops To Prevent Impaired Driving

New Brunswick RCMP have been conducting check stops and patrols this holiday weekend to ensure nobody is driving impaired.

They’re trying to raise awareness about the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Saturday was National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, and this past week was Canada Road Safety week.

According to the RCMP’s numbers, 874 people were charged with impaired driving in 2018. There were 19 fatalities last year on N.B. roads caused by impaired driving.

RCMP ask that if you see an impaired driver, call 9-1-1 with location, vehicle type & colour, direction of travel and licence plate number. Your tip could prevent a fatal crash.
