Don’t Be Alarmed, It’s Only A Test

Expect a test of the National Public Alerting System today.

The test in New Brunswick is scheduled for 10:55 a.m.

While the system is designed to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts via broadcast and to your mobile device, New Brunswick EMO director Greg MacCallum states he understands some people are still dealing with flooding, but it’s crucial the twice-annual test takes place.

MacCallum adds that alerts are only issued when there’s an imminent threat to life — and immediate action needs to be taken, saying tests are the only way to ensure the system works as expected.
