Fundraiser Announced To Help Others #SmileInBeccasName

A new fund was introduced this morning in honour of a Riverview teen who helped to spread kindness around the world.

The Rebecca Schofield Fund has been established to help cancer patients at the Moncton Hospital to #smileinBeccasname.

The teen, who created #beccatoldme to, passed away last year of brain cancer.

Her parents, Anne and Darren Schofield have partnered with the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, in the hopes of raising $250, 000 to support cancer patients.

The money will be used to create an endowment fund to support cancer patients to make their lives a little easier while battling the disease.

The generosity of an anonymous donor allowed Becca to do the things that made her smile, during her final days.

Her parents know she would like other cancer patients to be able to do the same.

Becca’s parents say they know their daughter would thrilled knowing that continued acts of kindness serve as the heart of the Rebecca Schofield Fund.

There were over 17000 patients visit at Moncton Hospital Oncology Clinic in 2017/2018.
