Boeing 737 MAX 8/9 Series Planes Not Flying Out Of Greater Moncton Airport

The Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport isn’t directly affected by the decision to ground Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes in Canada.

Spokesperson Julie Pondant says they don’t usually see those types of planes take off or land here., “We do have a Boeing 737-800 series that flies in and out of Greater Moncton, that is not the same as the one that has been grounded.”

Pondant says if you have a connecting flight, for another destination, you may be affected, “If you are connecting into Toronto or Montreal for example, going to another destination from there, you may be scheduled on a 737 MAX 8 aircraft, and the airlines are planning to put another plane on the route.”

The largest plane that lands and flies out on a regular basis in Greater Moncton is a 747 cargo flight.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau announced yesterday that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes were being grounded and banned them from Canadian airspace.

This comes after an Ethiopian Airlines plane crash on Sunday that killed 157 people onboard.
