Will The Former Attorney General Get Chance To Respond To Testimony?

An emergency meeting is planned for today for the Standing Committee on Justice.

The Federal Conservatives and NDP have made a request for former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould to appear for a second time in the SNC-Lavalin scandal.

Conservative MP Michael Cooper says she should be given the opportunity to counter comments made by Gerald Butts and Michael Wernick, “Some of the testimony from Mr. Wernick and Mr. Butts contradicted that of Ms. Wilson-Raybould. It is important to hear her, to cross examine her on some of those points.”

NDP MP Brian Massey feels there are a couple of reasons why she should reappear, “There seems to be discrepancy as to whether what she said is believable and second of all, the constrictions of the time frames imposed from the Prime Minister, which makes it very awkward to say the least, let alone the most important thing, to get some clarity.”

Wilson-Raybould says she would make herself available to the committee if additional testimony is requested, or to provide further clarity.

The Trudeau Liberals have been under fire since Wilson-Raybould alleged government pressure to intervene in the case.
