The provincial Liberals have questions for Premier Blaine Higgs about his recent trip to Saskatchewan for a pro-pipelines rally and the cost to taxpayers.
Higgs says it was an important journey to put New Brunswick on the map but he doesn’t have the cost breakdown.
“There were two of us that went. We took a commercial flight in economy class and stayed in a hotel for two nights. It wasn’t overly expensive,” notes Higgs.
If Quebec were on side, Higgs believes the Energy East pipeline project could be resurrected.
He says the province has been a major hurdle but feels pipelines are a safer and more efficient way to transport crude oil across the country.
While in Saskatchewan, Higgs adds there was a small derailment and the rail cars were carrying crude oil.
