GoFundMe Page Set Up After Tragic Halifax Fire

Community support is pouring in for a Syrian family in Halifax who lost seven children in a house fire.

A GoFundMe page was set up in the hours following Tuesday morning’s blaze in Spryfield.

By early Wednesday evening, it had already raised more than $345,000 — and the number continues to grow.

A local mosque and community centre says the Barho children ranged in age from four months old to their mid-teens.

Their father was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries while their mother suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A community gathering is being held in Halifax on Wednesday night so residents can show their support for the family.
