Continued Growth At Peter McKee Food Centre in 2018

The Peter McKee Centre Food Centre has made some major headway since it opened in 2016.

President for the Food Depot Alimentaire Dale Hicks says they are running a lot of the planned programs, and they are showing positive results, “We have had a number of our clients who have signed up for our GED class. We have actually had 15 that have graduated from the GED class at the Peter McKee last year, and I think five were clients of the Peter McKee. So hopefully with their high school equivalent, they’ll be able to get a job somewhere.”

Hicks says they hold budgeting classes and teach about coupon shopping, and shopping when the sales are on.

The garden has also been a big benefit for the centre, “The young lady who runs our garden, Lisa Clarkson has done a really good job with our garden and she has a lot more ideas for this year,” Hicks says.

The garden helps provide fresh fruits and vegetables to the clients at the Peter McKee Food Centre.
