What does the future hold for Brian Gallant?
He is resigning as Liberal leader and has decided to leave politics in early 2019.
Gallant says he has no plans at the moment.
“I’m looking forward to the tail-end of the holidays to relax a little bit, reconnect a bit more with my friends and family, and certainly look forward to future opportunities,” Gallant said.
“At this point, I’m going to continue to serve as the MLA for Shediac Bay-Dieppe for the time being and obviously start to contemplate on what will be next for Karine and I.”
In terms of any regrets in politics, Gallant says he wished he done more to unite the province surrounding controversial issues such as bilingualism.
Gallant plans to remain neutral in the upcoming Liberal leadership race.
But he does have a piece of advice for the next leader – be prepared for an election at any time.
