Riverview Taxes, Sewer and Water Rates Going Up In 2019

After a month of deliberation and discussion, the 2019 budget for the Town of Riverview has been set after a vote Monday.

In the budget for next year is included a one cent increase to the tax rate – for a house valued at $150,000, that’s an extra $1.25 per month.

Water and sewer rates for 2019 were locked in at $896 annually, amounting to an $5.50 per quarter over current rates.

Investments for next year include road infrastructure upgrades and renewals, and a new Codiac Transpo bus.

Mayor Ann Seamans says raising the tax rate is never a decision to be made lightly, but they have to find a responsible balance between community wants, and needs, and future financial stability.

The 2019 General Operating Fund, Utility Operating Fund, and 2019 Capital Budgets total $44.6 million.
