New Councillors Elected In Southeast NB Municipalities

Across the province, Elections NB reported that voter turnout was about 20 percent for Monday’s 17 byelections.

In Sackville, Shawn Mesheau beat four opponents to be elected councillor replacing a seat vacated by Megan Mitton who won as a Green MLA for Memramcook-Tantramar in September.

It came down to just two votes for victory in Shediac as Jean-Claude Joseph Bertin defeated Cheryl LeBlanc for a council seat.

Roger Caissie left the seat and ran for mayor but was acclaimed last month when no one else entered the race.

Marc Boudreau has been elected as a new councillor in Memramcook, Jean-Charles Dugas is now a Ward 3 councillor in Beaubassin-East while Susan MacCallum will join the village council in Alma.
