The death of a dog in PEI is under investigation.
RCMP and the Charlottetown Animal Control were notified on Tuesday after a rescue pit bull mix breed dog broke free from its owner and attacked another dog while it was walking with its family.
The dog was voluntarily handed over to the Humane Society and is undergoing an assessment to determine its behaviour and risk to the community.
The Humane Society says this is an out of province rescue and it is important for the assessment to be done.
Police say If the assessment determines that the animal is unsafe, it will be euthanized.
They’re reminding all dog owners to ensure you know your pet and how it reacts to other animals, as well as other members of the public.
