Cannabis NB Stores Will Cost $15M A Year

Will Cannabis NB be prepared when recreational cannabis becomes legal in just over three weeks?

In an email to our newsroom, a spokesperson for NB Liquor — which will operate Cannabis NB — said all 20 retail stores will be ready for October 17.

NB Liquor is estimating an average annual cost of about $750,000 per store, or about $15 million in total.

Online sales will also be available for pick-up at a retail store or home delivery.

The spokesperson said it is too early to comment on staffing requirements, but they expect to hire an average of seven people per store for a total of around 140.

Officials have said staff will go through about three weeks of training on product knowledge, responsible use, customer service and store operations.
