Health officials are reminding people of the importance of knowing their HIV status and getting tested for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections.
The Horizon Health Network says there has been a 175 per cent increase in reported HIV cases in the Fredericton and Oromocto areas.
So far this year, these areas account for 69 per cent of new HIV cases in New Brunswick.
