Florence Makes Landfall In The Carolina’s As A Category 1

Hurricane Florence has made landfall in the Carolinas this morning with winds up to 141 km/h, but the rain and storm surge is expected to be the real destructive force, that according to Environment Canada.

Meteorologist Marshall Hawkins says the storm is going to hang over the region for a couple of days and that could lead to several feet of rain just like the Gulf coast of Texas had last summer with Hurricane Harvey.

Hawkins says even as a Category 1 hurricane, Florence will cause wide-spread damage from the 10-foot storm surge and rainfall expected to equal 10 trillion gallons of water.

Forecast models show the remnants of Florence combining with a system bringing possible heavy rain to parts of the Maritimes by the middle of next week.
