The subject was childcare at a campaign stop in Saint John by Liberal leader Brian Gallant.
If re-elected, the Liberals would expand their free childcare program to include the whole province and the middle-class childcare subsidy program.
Gallant called the program ‘a resounding success’ in the cities where it first started, Saint John and Edmundston.

“We have over 500 children that have subsidies going to their families and over 300 of those families are getting free childcare”.
Brian Gallant also announced the families won’t pay more than 15 per cent of their gross income on childcare lowered from the original 20 per cent when the program was first announced.
“We want to make sure that we are sharing that revenue in a way that helps families get ahead”.
A re-elected Liberal government would also increase the number of available child care spaces to 30,000 by 2020.
Gallant spent some time reading to children before making the announcement.
