Gunningsville Bridge Intersection Work Delayed

Construction delays have pushed the completion of the Gunningsville Boulevard intersection at the Bridge until September 21st.

The Town of Riverview had said the work would be finished by late August.

But officials now say the weather and construction conflicts have led to delays.

Starting tonight (06 Sept), the temporary stop sign on the northbound on-ramp to the Gunningsville Bridge will be replaced with a permanent yield sign.

A final layer of asphalt will be laid once landscaping, concrete islands, sidewalks and signage are completed.

The intersection is being widened to accommodate more traffic expected when the Causeway closes for six months in 2020.

When finished, improvements at the intersection will include:

– A second southbound left-turn lane from Gunningsville Bridge onto Hillsborough Road

– A second eastbound left-turn lane on Coverdale Road onto the Gunningsville Bridge

– A second northbound through lane on Gunningsville Boulevard

– A second receiving lane on a portion of Gunningsville Bridge and Hillsborough Road
