PC Leader Being Told Shale Gas Industry Is Not Needed Anywhere In New Brunswick

PC leader Blaine Higgs pledge to lift a moratorium on any region that wants to have shale gas exploration is getting the big thumbs down from Jim Emberger.

He is the spokesperson for the New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance and tells our newsroom places like the Sussex area really don’t need the resumption of the industry.

Emberger says “they’ve rebounded quite nicely from the Potash mine going under, there is a lot of new businesses downtown I am told”.

“Shale gas is not going to solve anybody’s employment problems if we are going to be actually dealing with things like climate change etc. the industry doesn’t have a future, stated Emberger.

Emberger also adds that there is a trend towards having more of the oil and gas processing done by automation, so it is not the big job creation industry as touted by the Progressive Conservatives.
