The Older You Get, The More Likely You Are To Vote In NB

Almost 65 percent of eligible voters turned out to cast ballots in the last provincial election.

That’s a far cry from a voter turnout of more than 80 percent in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

If you break it down into the different demographics, Elections NB figures show the older you get, the greater the voter participation rate.

Between the ages of 18 and 24, voter turnout was only 44 percent.

But when you reach the age 65 to 84 category, the rate jumped dramatically to 78 percent.

The 2014 voter turnout was the lowest in New Brunswick history.
