Alleged Fredericton Shooter Due In Court

A 48-year-old man who police say shot and killed four people in Fredericton, including two police officers, is due to make a court appearance on Monday morning.

Matthew Vincent Raymond is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the August 10 shooting incident on the city’s north side.

It claimed the lives of Const. Sara Burns and Const. Robb Costello, along with Fredericton residents Donnie Robichaud and Bobbie Lee Wright.

Police have said Robichaud and Wright were shot outside an apartment building on Brookside Drive, and the two officers were hit by bullets when they responded to the call.

Investigators say the suspect, later identified as Raymond, was taken to hospital with serious injuries after exchanging gunfire with officers.

Police have not said whether there is a link between the suspect and the victims.
