‘It’s Just Not Acceptable’: Moncton East Youth Centre Executive Director On Pool

The Executive Director of the Moncton East Youth Centre is calling for an investigation into the process surrounding the new pool after it was revealed this week the maximum depth would be one metre, or 3.2 feet.

Pikey French says the project has been plagued with problems since day one, adding something is drastically wrong.

“You think nobody is that incompetent, I don’t know, but it’s just not acceptable,” says French. “It’s not acceptable to the community, to the youth, to the taxpayer, they deserve better than this.”

She says the community is devastated after learning of this, adding this is not what east end residents were promised when the original pool was closed five years ago.

“It was going to be a replacement pool, not just a water feature, and as a taxpayer I’m more than a little upset that $2.1 million for a water feature? No,” says French.

She wants to know what happened during the process, and how the replacement pool was changed to little more than a wading pool.
