A sight you don’t see every day will make its way down Main Street in Moncton tomorrow, and it all helps to raise awareness and funds to fight Breast, Colon, Lung, and Prostate Cancer.
Over 65 transport trucks will make their way from the Salisbury Irving Big Stop, starting at 11 o’clock.
Co-Organizer for the Convoy for Hope Atlantic Jo-Anne Phillips says they’ll be head down the highway, in the direction of the Hub City, “They’ll turn onto Berry Mills, carries on Killam to Vaughn Harvey, then we’re going to head down Assomption to get onto Main Street by Atlantic Lotto and then up King Street and back around the circle to the Moncton Coliseum.”
This is the 9th year for the event, that brings together Atlantic Canadians in celebration of the great service of the trucking industry and supporting our communities in the fight against Cancer.
“Any commercial vehicle can participate in the convoy. You can imagine if we had all transport trucks with their trailers, the convoy might take us a couple of hours to get through the city,” Phillips says.
The trucks will be led by the Canadian Army Veteran Association in both cars and on motorcycles, “There will also be fire department and ambulance. This year, we won’t have a police escort, because most of the officers will be in Fredericton for the Regimental Funeral,” Phillips adds.
Over $300, 000 has been raised over the past nine years to help combat cancer.
