NB RCMP Marks 92% Increase In Child Exploitation Offences Since 2015

In their annual report for 2017, the New Brunswick RCMP Internet Child Exploitation unit reported rescuing 10 children from sexual predators.

In the last year, they launched 188 new investigations, which led to the arrests of 13 people, and 24 charges being laid.

In comparison, the year before, they opened 175 investigations, arrested 24 people, and laid 32 charges.

Since 2015, the ICE unit noted a 92 per cent increase in child exploitation offences – going from 97 to 186.

In addition to their own investigations, the unit also helped with 71 other national or international cases.
