MMHA In Need Of Coaches For 2018-2019 Season

Love the game of hockey? Maybe you’d like to try coaching?

The hunt is on by the Moncton Minor Hockey Association for Coaches.

President Dan Boudreau says they’re always looking for qualified individuals, “The most critical coaching levels we need currently are for the competitive level. That would from Atom, PeeWee, Bantam and Midget, for the AA, A and B levels. We will be looking at evaluating coaches during the month of August, trying to be geared out for tryouts in the month of September.”

At the competitive level, Coaches will have around three ice times per week, plus planning time and any additional ice time they choose to purchase on their own.

Coaches for recreational levels will also be needed in the months to come.

Boudreau says they had around 56 teams last year, and each team requires at least one head coach and two assistants.

“Experience is key for the positions and in most cases that is the biggest asset that our coaches would need. The roles are also open to men or women,” Boudreau says.

To become a Coach, you will need to have a Criminal Record check done, and you have to take part in a couple of Coaching certification clinics.

The deadline to apply as a Coach at the competitive level, is July 31st.
