Multiculturalism was celebrated in Greater Moncton over the weekend.
Thousands came out to the 14th annual Mosaiq Festival held in Riverfront Park.
Spokesperson Justin Ryan says it has certainly come a long way, since it began, “It was a small little thing, it was down in one section of St. George. There were a handful from the Ethnic Multicultural Association. There were enough to people to be able to activate on site and put together entertainment and do those kinds of things.”
From there, it moved to Victoria Park, and then in front of City Hall, and this year for the first time it filled Riverfront Park.
Hundreds used to attend, and now they see 6000 to 10000 who come from all over.
One of the first time features for the Festival this year, was a multicultural parade.
“It is so encouraging to see how much a part of the fabric of the community something like the Mosaiq has become,” Ryan says.
