Car Fire In Moncton Park Deemed ‘Suspicious’

The Moncton Fire Department was called to a fire at Gurney’s Bend Park between Elmwood Drive and Mill Road last night.

Acting Platoon Chief Mike Lake says the call came in just before 11 o’clock.

“For a vehicle on fire in the park, when they arrived, they found a fully involved vehicle, currently it’s deemed as suspicious,” says Lake.

Lake says firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby trees, and insofar as a car fire can be called routine, it was.

The investigation into the cause is still underway, with Lake saying he hasn’t yet gotten a report from Fire Prevention.

Anyone with information should call Codiac RCMP at 506.857.2400 or the Moncton Fire Department 506.857.8800.
