Series Of Fire Calls Keeps Moncton Firefighters Busy

Firefighters in Moncton were scrambling to keep up with a series of fire calls which began late yesterday afternoon.

Starting around 4:15pm, Moncton Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says they responded to a shed fire on Echo Drive.

“During that time, we had (a series of) brush fires come in around that general vicinity. One over off Ocean Limited Way, another came in at Vaughan Harvey and St. George and a third off Pacific Avenue,” he notes.

Gaudet says that fire turned out to be at a makeshift homeless shelter.

Also around the same time, a dumpster fire was reported but Gaudet doesn’t believe that fire is related to the others.

No one was hurt.

Gaudet adds a fire investigator was following the fires and is looking into what happened.

Meantime, Codiac RCMP have launched an investigation into the three Moncton brush fires.

Police say all three are considered suspicious and no arrests have yet been made.
