City of Moncton Ward 1 Councillor Shawn Crossman is facing a battle against cancer.
He made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying earlier this week tests confirmed multiple myeloma, a type of cancer of the plasma cells in bone marrow.
Crossman writes he is beginning four months of weekly chemotherapy treatments, with a possibility of a stem cell transplant in the fall if all goes well.
He remains committed to working throughout his treatment, albeit on a reduced schedule.
Crossman adds he has every confidence in his medical team, and is optimistic for a positive outcome.
