Pizza Plant Closing In Grand Falls

A pizza manufacturing plant is closing in Grand Falls putting about 180 employees out of work.

Dr. Oetker says it will close its leased plant at the end of May and cites an increasingly challenging retail food climate as the reason.

The plant was acquired from McCain’s in 2014.

The company says employees will receive a severance package which includes employment counseling, resume support and career planning.

Dr. Oetker will also establish a four million dollar community fund for Grand Falls and will work with all levels of government to help with job retraining and economic development.

The company says about 70 percent of its manufacturing in Grand Falls will move to London, Ontario and the remainder to a plant in the U.S.
