Updated-Fredericton Departure Of Canadian Soldiers To Latvia Has Been Delayed.

Around 150 members of the Canadian Armed Forces will leave from Fredericton on Saturday headed to Latvia.

The members of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, will join NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup Latvia.

They’ll be led by Lieutenant-Colonel Sean French, who is the Commanding Officer for the 2nd Battalion.

National Defence announced last year that 450 troops would be deployed to Latvia. That includes headquarters staff, an infantry company with Light Rmoured Vehicles, military police and logistical and communications support. The flght was set to depart on Friday morning but CFB Gagetown has announced a 24 hour delay in the departure of the soldiers.
