The contract between the Gallant Government and Medavie Health Services privatizing extramural care programs and Tele-Care services is public.
Medavie will receive a base payment of $2.6 million, but is eligible for up to $1.8 million in incentives if they reach targets in five Key Indicators.
Those include increasing referrals to extra mural care from primary care providers from 7,426 to 8,911 (+20%), and increasing extra mural visits from 605,380 to 696,187 (+15%).
However, in this first year, the provincial government is guaranteeing Medavie $1 million of the available incentives, to be paid on October 1st.
According to the government, that’s in recognition of the additional risk taken by Medavie with achieving these targets in 2018-2019.
Medavie will still be able to gain the remaining $800,000 if they meet all their targets.
If they fail to meet the stated goals, they are subject to financial penalties.
Details of the incentive structure are below, click through the photos to see details of each of the five Key Performance Indicators.
