UPDATE: Cold Weather Causes Sprinkler Pipe To Burst At Capitol Theatre

Moncton Fire were on the scene at the Capitol Theatre on Main Street this morning after a frozen pipe burst.

Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says they received a call for a fire alarm just before 6 o’clock.

When they arrived, they found a sprinkler pipe had burst near the front entrance, and they quickly shut off the water.

Bruens says there is a significant amount of water, but it appears to be minimal damage, due to the fact that it was in the front entrance.

In an email, Capitol Theatre Spokesperson Geneviève Maltais says, “The Box Office will remain open while the clean up crew works. Thankfully, the leak that occurred was nowhere close to the Main Hall.”
