Around 15 firefighters battled a blaze in an abandoned two storey building last night on Elmwood Drive.
Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says when they arrived just before midnight, there was black smoke and flames coming for the first floor, “At the time of the fire, the building was not occupied. The building had its power removed and it was scheduled for demolition.”
It took firefighters over an hour to get the fire out.
Bruens says there is extensive smoke, fire and water damage.
Fire investigators will be back on scene today to try to determine a cause.
