Algae Bloom Over At Turtle Creek Watershed

Thanks to cooler weather and less direct sunlight, the algae bloom situation in the upper reservoir at Turtle Creek appears to be over for this year.

The lower reservoir actually supplies water for the tri-communities treatment plant.

City of Moncton officials say very low levels of toxins were detected in both reservoirs but none were found in the water going to the treatment plant.

Since the supply intake is about 10 metres below the water’s surface and algae tends to grow near the surface, the City says this year’s bloom did not affect the overall water supply.
