Operations could grind to a halt at Moncton City Hall by this weekend.
Despite a meeting with a provincially-appointed mediator, the City of Moncton and the City Hall Employees Association have been unable to reach a new contract agreement.
Wages have been the main sticking point.
Negotiations began in January.
The union will be holding a strike vote on Thursday (November 23) and a strike could happen by Saturday or the City may decide to lockout workers.
The union covers about 230 employees who work in clerical, technical and supervisory positions.
