Greater Moncton SPCA Gets $375,000 Commitment For New Building From City Of Moncton

The Greater Moncton SPCA has taken a step towards a new shelter thanks to funding from the City of Moncton.

$375,000 was approved in principle during budget deliberations on Friday.

Executive Director Dave Rogers says this is great news.

“We originally had applied for them through their grant process, and that was denied, and then they redirected it to their operating budget and approved it there,” says Rogers.

He adds a unanimous vote in their favour means they will be getting the money.

“The City of Moncton Council have agreed to provide funding over the next three years for the building fund for the new SPCA shelter, and the total will be $375,000,” says Rogers.

The proposed SPCA shelter, with a price tag of $5.8 million will be supported by a fundraising campaign launched next year in an effort to get the shovels in the ground in 2019.
