Fall Storm Brings Strong Winds and Rain

A fall storm is crossing the Maritimes this afternoon bringing periods of heavy rain and strong wind gusts.

Environment Canada meteorologist Ian Hubbard says this system actually has a tropical element.

“There was a tropical storm over the weekend, Phillipe, and it actually weakend and was absorbed into this low,” he notes.

Hubbard says a wind gust of 63 km/h has been recorded at the Greater Moncton Airport with gusts up to 80 km/h possible.

He adds conditions should improve as the evening goes on with a clearing sky expected overnight.
