Today marks the beginning of the annual Poppy Campaign which will run until Remembrance Day.
Millions of Canadians wear a poppy to never forget those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 Poppy Chairman Ghislaine Lapierre says there is an appropriate way to wear the symbol of remembrance.
“It’s always worn on the left side closest to the heart. But for some who can’t wear it on their uniform, they can wear it on the left side of their hat,” he notes.
Lapierre says poppies are not for sale but rather given by donations.
All of the money raised stays locally to support veterans and their families in Greater Moncton.
