Much Needed Rain Expected In Southeast New Brunswick

Much needed precipitation is expected to arrive in New Brunswick over the next couple of days according to Environment Canada.

A prolonged dry period has created lower crop yields for farmers and some wells have been going dry.

Meteorologist Linda Libby says two low pressure systems, one from the west and another heading north, will merge over the Maritimes, “We’re getting an area rain forming pushing particularly through the Western part of the Maritimes, but it does move eastward Wednesday night into Thursday. We are expecting windy conditions as well ahead of a cold front, and then cooler conditions behind on Friday, as the cold front finally moves east of the Maritimes.”

Libby says the heaviest rainfall amounts are expected in western New Brunswick with lesser amounts in the Southeast.

Currently, Environment Canada is calling for up to 60 millimetres for some regions by Thursday morning.

As of this morning, the western parts of the province were under a rainfall warning, whereas Southeast New Brunswick was still under a Special Weather Statement.
