Bookstravaganza proved to be a big success for Laubach Literacy New Brunswick with $30,000 raised for the organization in the annual charity book sale.
At locations around the province, trained volunteers with Laubach Literacy work one-to-one with adults who want to improve their basic reading, writing and math skills.
Executive director Deanna Allen says not everyone learns how to read easily or in the same way and the expectations are high for literacy skills in this digital age.
Allen says our society requires all of us to have high literacy skills to manage very complex information.
She adds literacy demands are much higher now than 10 years ago and will be even higher in the coming years.
