Orkin, the largest pest control company in Canada, has released a list of the cities in Atlantic Canada with the most rats.
St. John’s is first followed by Halifax, Saint John, Moncton and Dartmouth.
The standings are based on the number of commercial and residential rodent treatments that are carried out.
Homeowners are advised to seal any small holes and cracks in outside walls, keep vegetation at least a metre away from your home and eliminate any accumulation of water in clogged gutters, garbage cans and recycling bins.
Homeowners are warned millions of dollars worth of property damage is caused each year by rats and mice.
