Hockey History Of Coliseum Documented In Video By Moncton Wildcats

The new season is just beginning for the Moncton Wildcats, but it will be one like no other. This is the last year they will call the Moncton Coliseum home.

In commemoration, they have created a video that looks at the hockey history of the facility, “Going back to the 1975 Hearty Cup Championship team with the Moncton Bears, the large Midget tournament, the Wrigley tournament, some of the Junior AA teams that have come through here, and certainly there was 16 years of American hockey league teams,” says the Director of Business Operations Ryan Jenner.

“The Wildcats have had a significant part of the building. This is our 22nd season in the Coliseum, and a lot of has happened, even within our own organization’s history and that is something we would like to shed some light on as well. The Coliseum has served both the Wildcats and the community exceptionally well. It will continue to do so. It’s not closing, it will take on a new life. But there is certainly a bittersweet aspect to it.”

Jenner says they did a lot of research on the Coliseum, to help put this video together.

He adds, negotiations are still underway to secure a contract for the downtown events centre, but they are working very hard to get that in place.
