The public is expected to line the streets in downtown Moncton this afternoon, as RCMP, military, and emergency responders pay their respects to a fallen officer.
A regimental funeral will be held for Constable Francis Deschenes.
Prior to the services, that are being held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Moncton, a procession will march eastward along Assomption Boulevard., turn left on Downing Street, and cross Main Street onto Botsford Street.

St. John’s United Church will also be open for members of the public to view the services, but there is limited seating.

Due to the procession, the City of Moncton is closing the eastbound lanes of Assomption Boulevard, from Euston Street to Downing Street starting at 10am this morning. Botsford from Queen Street to Victoria will also be closed.
The procession will begin at 1 o’clock and the funeral is being held at 2pm
Deschenes was killed in a tragic car accident last week on Highway 2 near Memramcook.
