Hundreds Take Part in Annual Tribute To A Canadian Hero

350 participants ran, walked and even rode bicycles as a part of this year’s Tri-Community Terry Fox run.

Steven Clerke is a volunteer with the run. He had the opportunity to see Terry Fox in person when he embarked on his run across Canada in 1980.

“I saw this car with the lights flashing and I wondered what what going on. I slowed down and there was this person smiling and dripping with sweat. I rolled down my window and I waved and he gave me a thumbs up. Then he put his face down towards my window and he waved frantically at me, and I’ll never forget that. I continued to follow his run from there, and learned more about him. I still follow his runs to this day. To be a part of that history then, and to still be a part of it is a tremendous honour,” Clerke says
