International Students And Immigrants Critical To Future Success Of Moncton

The grand opening of the Atlantic Canada Education Services Corporation last week is an example of newcomers moving to the area and contributing to the economy.

That’s the message from City of Moncton Immigration Strategy Officer Angelique Reddy-Kalala who says attracting international students is critical.

“We work closely with our post-secondary institutions to help integrate them and help retain them, and I think this is another great example of an immigrant entrepreneur that has really gone above and beyond to help attract international students to our communities,” says Reddy-Kalala.

She says these international are “renting apartments, shopping in our stores, attending our schools and really contributing to our economy and that’s what we want to see, and on top of that it’s population growth!”

Reddy-Kalala says in the end “if they choose to stay here, we certainly within our community have a lot of available jobs, so the more people we can help retain in our community, the more Moncton will continue to grow.”
