Moncton Wildcats Spokesperson Courtney Huestis says it will include all of the newly drafted players, and it will help to showcase the new talent playing in the Q League this season, “You’ll get to see all of the top prospects for each team and get a glimpse of what the upcoming season might be like. It is all of our newly drafted players for the most part. Also some players who were drafted last year who weren’t on the team. It is really exciting for these players because it is the first time for the majority of them, probably 99 per cent of them, that they are going to be in a Q jersey.”
Teams taking part are the Moncton Wildcats, Halifax Mooseheads, Saint John Sea Dogs, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Charlottetown Islanders and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
Each team will play three games, one per day with the championship being on Sunday. Games are being played at the Superior Propane Centre.
The Moncton Rookie Challenge runs August 18 to the 20th.
