Rain Expected To Help NB’s Tinder Dry Forests

Rain is in the forecast for parts of New Brunswick today and that’s good news for the tinder dry forests.

Over the long weekend, some wet weather helped lower the fire hazard and a province-wide burning ban was lifted.

Burning is now allowed in the evening after 8-pm and overnight until 8-am.

As of this morning, the provincial fire centre says a fire northwest of Moncton near Birch Ridge is now listed as contained and there are 9 others still burning.

A fire about 3 km south of Riverview town limits was contained over the weekend by firefighters from Riverview, Hillsborough and the DNR.
