With any proposal, Fraser says the province wanted to preseve the heritage of the building as much as possible.
“We also wanted to make sure that the province wasn’t going to have to pump in millions and millions of dollars so we needed to have a proposal with good partnerships,” he notes.

A proposal from the MH35 group sought to turn the building into a cultural centre with the possible addition of the Moncton Public Library while little is known about the other bid from Terra Trust and Bird Construction.
Up to $300,000 a year is being spent by provincial taxpayers for things such as heat and security to maintain the historic landmark which was built in 1935.
