The Senate and Federal Government are recognizing 32 people who have shown exceptional leadership in their communities.
Greater Moncton MP Ginette Petitpas-Taylor is awarding 20 pins to members of the community making contributions to one of four areas.
Those areas are:
1: Diversity and Inclusion
2: Youth Engagement and Leadership
3: Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples
4: Environmental Stewardship
The pins are made from recycled sheets of copper from the Parliament Building roof.
As well, New Brunswick Senator Nancy Hartling is awarding 12 medals to people who have been thoroughly involved in their communities, and who have made Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe a better place through their generosity, dedication, volunteerism and hard work.
The Senate medals are made from antiqued bronze, and bear both the Senate’s official coat of arms as well as an engraved depiction of the Senate Chamber.
A selection committee consisting of outstanding individuals will be created, and this Selection Committee will identify 32 deserving recipients whom the community can celebrate together for Canada 150.
The nomination deadline is August 30th.
Further information about nominations can be found on Petitpas-Taylor’s website or Facebook page.
