Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to work together on economic issues that will benefit the area as a whole.
The three municipalities have agreed to collaborate and cooperate on areas of mutual interest, including functioning as one voice to all levels of government and other potential partners on issues related to regional economic development….
They’ve also agreed to work together on launching entrepreneurial start-ups, and on increasing the regional tax base.
“This kind of co-operation has long existed informally and it is a primary force behind the Census Moncton Area becoming the fastest growing municipal area in the province and one of the fastest growing in Canada,” said Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold. “This kind of growth, where our region has become an economic driver for the province, could not happen without our ability to work together on the issues that benefit us all.”
Dieppe Mayor Yvon Lapierre said the Memorandum of Understanding is an important step in cementing the existing relationship between the three municipalities. “This cooperation will enable us to progress more efficiently on issues related to economic growth, and will show the willingness of the three municipalities to make our region one of the best places to do business in Canada.”
Riverview Mayor Ann Seamans said this is a positive time for our region. “We are committed to working collaboratively with Riverview’s municipal neighbours of Moncton and Dieppe to grow our local economy in a way that ensures prosperity for all our communities.”
